Fmr RTA bus driver gets jail time for famous uppercut

(Cleveland) – Artis Hughes will spend some time in jail and undergo anger management training.

Hughes is he RTA driver who punched a female passenger in the face aboard a bus in Beachwood last year. YouTube video of the incident went viral.

After pleading not guilty, Hughes changed his plea to no contest. On Tuesday morning, Hughes was sentenced to 90 days behind bars, all but three of which were suspended if he stays out of trouble.

Hughes was also fined $1,000 and must take part in an anger management program. He was previously fired by RTA.

The video shows Shidea Lane arguing with Hughes before he hits her in the face.

Lane was convicted of disorderly conduct last month for her role and will be sentenced later.
