Rapist DNA leads to indictment of unknown suspect

(Cleveland) - A first in Cuyahoga County as a grand jury has indicted the DNA profile of an unidentified rapist rather than a person.

A six count indictment handed up accuses the man of raping a 13 year old girl and a 37 year old woman in 1993 and 1996 respectively.

Prosecutors have now issued an arrest warrant against the suspect's DNA profile. The 'Plain Dealer' reports so-called 'John Doe' indictments have been successfully used for more than a decade in other states such as New York and California.
