Old Innerbelt bridge comes falling down after almost 55 years

(Cleveland)--A huge blast was heard throughout downtown Cleveland Saturday morning as demolition crews brought down 5 of the remaining 9 spans of the Old Innerbelt bridge.

Jocelyn Clemings with the Ohio Department of Transportation says lots of steel came safely crashing to the ground.

It will take about a month to clear out the fallen steel.

The old bridge, which opened August 15, 1959, was torn down to make way for the rest of the new Innerbelt Bridge span, which is partially opened.
